Meet Mary Atia, M.D.

Dr. Mary Atia is a board-certified gastroenterologist dedicated to providing compassionate, comprehensive care for a wide range of gastrointestinal and liver conditions. Dr. Atia’s journey in medicine was shaped by her love for warm weather and rigorous academic training. She attended Rice University, where she double majored in Anthropology and Kinesiology, all while supporting athletes as a Sports Medicine Trainer.

She earned her medical degree at the University of Southern California (USC), balancing intensive clinical training at the county hospital with unwavering support for Trojan football. She then completed her internal medicine residency through the combined UCLA program at Cedars-Sinai and the West Los Angeles VA, before returning to Arizona for her gastroenterology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, where she trained under renowned leaders in the field. Throughout her career, she has contributed to medical research through published book chapters, journal articles, and national conference presentations.

When she’s not discussing gut health, Dr. Atia enjoys traveling and hiking, with a bucket-list goal of visiting every U.S. National Park. She is also an avid football fan – Fight On, Trojans!
