Meet Rebecca L. McCollaum, FNP

Rebecca McCollaum was a registered nurse for three years before obtaining her Nurse Practitioner degree from the University of Utah. She has worked in Cardiology, Family Practice, Urgent Care, Infectious Disease, and Gastroenterology.

Since 2018 Rebecca has focused on managing Inflammatory Bowel Disease patients. She is passionate about advocating for and educating patients. Her goal is to ensure patients understand their disease process, their medications, and how to effectively navigate the healthcare system to get the care they need and deserve. She is also a resource for her peers and the community at large, speaking at conferences at both the local and national level and speaking for several different pharma companies.

Chronic Care Management

Since 2020 Rebecca has also been integral in GI Alliance’s initiative to provide care to our patients through our Chronic Care Management program. This program provides an extra touchpoint for patients with chronic diseases to keep their doctors appraised of their conditions and help troubleshoot issues that arise in the months outside of the routine office visits.

She started the program here in AZ for our IBD patients and it has now expanded across the GI Alliance and includes more disease states. She has been working with a team of providers across the nation to help improve the quality of that program.

Rebecca likes to work and has a job for every day of the week. But, when she has spare time, she likes to take on new adventures – she tries to learn something new or take on a new hobby each year. Some examples are learning French, learning to ride a horse, dance classes, sewing classes, etc.

Rebecca had a daughter in late 2024 who she adores and includes in as much of her day-to-day activities as she can. She loves to see new places and experience new things. Rebecca has family all over the world and she tries to visit them as often as she can (particularly her family who reside in Utah and the Caribbean).
